Applications international students

The International University Relations Office informs about the application system for short-term stays, according to the provisions of the established agreements.

Student exchanges are subject to the evolution of COVID-19 in Argentina, sanitary measures imposed on educational institutions and the Argentine  Ministry of Foreign Affairs dispositions.

Student mobility under agreements

If you are a member of a University which has an agreement with UNLP, you shall stay for one or two consecutive semesters in our institution and attend classes regularly.

If you are interested in taking part in this type of mobility, you will have to complete an online application on the dates set by UNLP.

What should you consider before starting completing the application?

1- First, you have to access the webpage of the school you are interested in to see the programme of the course of study you have selected. The subjects of each course of study may be annual, biannual or quarterly; that is why you need to check the scheme of the subjects you want to study. If you cannot find this information, you may send an email to the reference person at the corresponding academic unit.

2- In the case of biannual and quarterly subjects, you should pay attention to during which semester they are given.

3- The academic year at UNLP starts in March and finishes in December.

  • First semester: March to July.
  • Second semester: August to December.
  • Summer holiday: January to mid-February.
  • Winter holiday: two weeks in July.

4- During one semester, you may take up to 4 biannual subjects, given that you will have to attend six classes of an hour every week for each of them. Each subject has theoretical and practical classes.

5- The courses of study which include most annual courses within their programmes are the following: Social Work, Architecture, Journalism and all the courses of study at the School of Fine Arts.

6- The dates when classes start and finish vary at each school.

7- UNLP does not adopt a ‛credit system’. Our institution recognises the courses taken through a system which includes the hours attended and marks within a scale of  1-10.  The Home University will validate the courses taken according to its marking system and internal regulations.

8- Acceptance letters are sent in a digital format during the month when the application period ends.

9- Application dates are the following:

  • To attend classes during the first semester (March-July): from 24th August to 9th October.
  • To attend classes during the second semester (August-December): from 26th March to 30th April.

The application system will remain active only during this period. Applications will not be accepted before or after these dates.

10- In order to study at UNLP, you will have to get a life, health and repatriation insurance with coverage in the Republic of Argentina.

11- When you arrive, you will also have to hand in a psycho-physical aptitude certificate duly signed and sealed by a doctor.

Online application

If you have already read and considered the previous instructions, you will be able to make your application on the following dates:

To attend classes during the first semester (March-July): from 24th August to 9th October..

To attend classes during the second semester (August-December):  from 26th March to 30th April.

You must print your application form and submit it to alumnos.internacionales@presi.unlp.edu.ar together with the following documentation:

  • Psycho-physical examination certificate duly signed and sealed by a doctor (download from section ‛Documents’).

We also recommend you to contact the insurance company before travelling in order to find out how you should proceed in case you needed to use your insurance.

Independent student mobility

UNLP does not receive students from universities with which it has not signed a cooperation agreement.

If you wish to apply for an exchange, you should contact the International Relations Office at your University to express your interest and evaluate the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement between both institutions in the future.

Student mobility under programmes

UNLP participates in several associations, networks and groups which implement student mobility programmes that allow students to study in our institution during one semester. Among them, we could mention the following:

  • Programa Escala Estudiantil de AUGM
  • Programa de Intercambio Académico Latinoamericano – PILA
  • Programa Académico de Movilidad Estudiantil – PAME
  • Programa MARCA
  • Programa ARFITEC
  • Programa ARFAGRI

If you want to take part in any of them, you will have to respect the application dates, complete the required forms and follow the procedures established for each of them, as well as comply with the instructions given by the International Relations Office at your home university.
